Sun sets on Cobalt as web-hosts wake up to Trustix Xserver

New York, 27th September 2004 — Trustix, the internet infrastructure specialists, today announced the launch of their dedicated web hosting appliance XserverT CP+. The appliance runs on the security hardened, server optimized Linux distribution, Trustix OS and is remotely managed using the intuitive and user friendly control panel, Trustix CP+. Trustix see the new server as occupying the niche market left open by the discontinuation of Sun’s Cobalt range. The move is the latest in Trustix’s program to integrate its secure operating system with the new generation of powerful and user-friendly control panels. Trustix feel that usability and transparency is essential if the Linux platform is to achieve the 29% share of the enterprise server market by 2008 that was predicted by recent IDC research. Trustix CP+ facilitates the quick and easy, web based administration of dedicated servers. It simplifies the usually complex management of tasks such as web site hosting (including DNS management and email), mySQL databases, Firewall configuration and Samba file sharing. Administrators don’t need to remember a long list of console commands with complex syntax and valid parameter values. Featuring granulated access levels for maximum security and flexibility, Trustix CP+ enables remote access and control of all aspects of corporate servers from any desktop. The unification of the control panel, Operating System and server hardware into a single vendor entity means businesses will enjoy cleaner and, crucially, more effective support. Instead of making multiple telephone calls to separate organizations, customers will be able to identify and solve any problems with a single call to Trustix. Steve Roylance, Technical Marketing Director of Comodo-Trustix, commented: “The best and most effective solutions are those that make life simple. Cobalt exemplified this approach by providing an appliance that was easy to deploy and control whilst retaining a cost effectiveness that appealed to businesses of all sizes. Xserver CP+ forms the perfect replacement for existing Cobalt users, delivering a pre-secured, powerful and reliable server, remotely configured from an intuitive, user friendly control panel.” “The Trustix Xserver CP+ is commensurate with the ideals common to all Trustix products; Security, Ease of Use; Cost Effectivity and Customer Care. We are looking to simplify server management for Linux newcomers and experienced administrators alike. Businesses of all sizes can take advantage of the powerful and intuitive remote server management features of Trustix CP+, assured that their servers are running on the most secure and reliable Linux server operating system, Trustix OS- all for one industry low price.About Trustix A leading global provider of IT Infrastructure and security solutions, Trustix delivers a broad range of critical infrastructure services and solutions making the Internet and telecommunications networks more intelligent, reliable, and secure.
