  • You have placed at least one order for a Comodo certificate (recently or in the past)
  • Your websites are running on Apache web server on Linux (CentOS, Fedora, Ubuntu or Debian)
  • Install the certificate controller software on any Windows or Linux machine on your network
  • Once the controller is installed, use the S3 portal to add servers, view orders and manage/install certificates

Login and Get Started

Yes. Comodo also offers a standalone utility which allows you to manage certificates on Apache and IIS servers.

The utility shares many of the features of S3 but cannot manage multiple servers, does not have built-in chat support or expiry reminders and has no option for agentless management.

We recommend you use the S3 utility because of it's more flexible deployment options and to benefit from its larger feature set. However, we will retain availability of the utility in the short term for exsiting users and for those who prefer a software GUI.

Download Utility

For step-by-step guide, please see the following help page:
Comodo S3 web portal guide

  • If your certificate has an auto-installer status of 'Installed' then you can check installation status in S3 as follows:
    • Select 'SSL Tools' in the SSL Management drop-down
    • Enter your domain name and port (default = 443)
    • Click 'Basic SSL Check' or 'Advanced SSL Check'

    • 'Basic SSL Check' shows basic certificate information and is useful for quickly identifying the validity, type and issuer of the certificate.
    • 'Advanced SSL Check' shows the basic information plus details about web-server configuration, including any protocol problems and whether the web server has the correct cipher suites.
  • For live certificates, another important test is to simply visit the https version of your website using a variety of browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer etc). If the connection is successful and the browser does not display an error message, then your certificate is installed correctly.
  • Comodo also offer a very detailed SSL analyzer at https://sslanalyzer.comodoca.com/

The tools invoke the local crypto module on your server to generate your CSR and store your public/private key pair. This is exactly the same as if you'd generated the CSR manually using OpenSSL or the native IIS MMC snap-in. Your private key never, ever leaves your webserver.

Via the web portal:
