Latest Version of Comodo Certificate Manager Adds Rapid Code Signing Service for Instant Analysis and Deployment

Clifton, NJ, December 14, 2015 — The Comodo organization, a global innovator and developer of cybersecurity solutions, today announced that the next version of its flagship digital certificate lifecycle management technology – Comodo Certificate Manager (CCM) 5.3 – is now generally available worldwide.

CCM 5.3 helps companies keep track of all of their digital certificates – from dozens to thousands. The lifecycle management of digital certificates is a challenge for some companies – which includes the ability to issue new certificates instantly. CCM streamlines the lifecycle management of EV, SSL, UC, Wildcard, Multi-domain, and client certificates through a unified and secure web interface – which allows for easier administration, fast certificate issuance, lower costs and improved security.

CCM 5.3 sees the addition of the Code Signing On-The-Fly (CSF) service, offering customers a more intuitive and highly secure way to digitally sign their software. Software publishers sign their applications with a code signing certificate to prove to customers that the file they are downloading is genuine and not a version that has been modified or hacked. This is especially important for publishers who distribute their software through third-party download sites, which they may have no control over. Furthermore, major operating systems will show end users an error message if the software they are trying to install is not signed by a trusted CA.

CCM’s CSF service provides a fast and simple interface through which developers can upload, sign and quickly collect their signed software. The service also ensures certificate keys are securely stored and available only to authenticated users, helping to mitigate the risk of accidental loss or theft. CSF is available in both hosted and cloud deployment models and can sign .EXE, .DLL, .CAB, .MSI, .JS, .VBS, .PS1, .OCX, .SYS, .WSF, .CAT, .MSP, .CPL, and .EFI formats.

“Our latest version of Comodo Certificate Manager adds the new element of Code Signing On-The-Fly, further supporting our already excellent features of streamlining the management of digital certificates overall,” said Muratcan Tepencelik, CCM product manager. “Code Signing Services from Comodo solve the traditional code signing problems of private keys being shared locally – subjecting them to possible theft or loss – with instant feedback and approval processes, allowing the certificate management team to rest easy and know the lifecycle of its digital certificates are maintained, optimized and secure.”
